A Beautiful Autumn in Philly

Beautiful autumn photo of Manayunk Towpath and multicolored trees and stone bridge

Yesterday was a beautiful autumn day in Philadelphia. The trees lining the Schuylkill River are a breathtaking tapestry of fiery reds, vibrant oranges, and sunny yellows. A gentle breeze rustles the branches, sending leaves dancing to the ground. It was so pretty, we walked down the hill and back twice.

On Manayunk’s Main Street, the sidewalks were full of people enjoying the crisp (but not too cold!) air. Children played, couples promenaded, and dogs dragged their owners from place to place. It's a comfortable street cafe culture. Our visiting relatives, Tina (my wife), Strider the Dog, and I had a lovely evening strolling around in all the little shops and bars in the evening.

The historic buildings, bustling streets, and vibrant murals are what visitors think makes Philadelphia special, and they are, but I’m finding such joy in all the little things.  As a west coast transplant, I’m having fun simply jumping on colorful crunchy leaves like an eight year old. Tina says this is my first real autumn and I’ve come to see that it’s quite a special experience.

It's been a day filled with contentment. Philadelphia in the fall is a gift.
